The ease of ski-in/ski-out is as popular across the pond as it is in Europe – here’s the pick of the best slopeside accommodation throughout the USA and Canada put together by our North American Senior Product Manager, which is why it’s no surprise that two of them seem to revolve around the bar!
Slap bang at the base of Blackcomb Mountain – this hotel has a ski-in-ski-out position like no other in Whistler. The Fairmont’s bar and patio back on to the slopes so even if you don’t stay there you have to go for a slopeside drink and warm up around the firepits.
Sunshine Mountain Lodge, Banff
For a an area where a ski bus is usually a must it’s great to have one ski-in-ski-out option. The Sunshine Mountain Lodge sits at the peak of Sunshine Village ski resort with a gondola ride to get to it – so fresh tracks are a cert every morning.
The hotel to stay at in the USA’s most upmarket resort. They say if you stay here you’ll only need to touch your skis to put them on in the mornings (unless you fall over)! Plus, the spa is possibly the best (and only) reason not to spend a day on the Colorado slopes.
Sky Hotel, Aspen
The trendiest hotel in the resort where you go to be seen. You can ski back right into the 39 Degrees bar which is set around a pool. It’s a lively après ski spot for the young, trendy and fairly loaded. Cocktails in the pool are a must.
Although all the above options are very swanky luxury hotels the Pine Ridge Condos continue to be a favourite of ours. Why? High standard, good value, huge condos with the only essential you really need – good outdoor hot tubs!
