Value is a word that gets used a lot when comparing ski holidays. But what exactly does it mean?

Is it the cheapest? The largest ski area for the cheapest lift pass? Or is it in-resort costs, so you won’t have to save up to get a slice of pizza on the slopes? It all comes down to which bits of your holiday are most important to you – and that’s different for everyone.

Bulgaria’s largest ski resort takes the crown as our overall value-for-money resort. 

And it wasn’t even close – Bansko is around 10% cheaper than its nearest competitor, Bardonecchia.

 

Top tips for a budget ski trip

  1. Go in January, when the prices are usually lower
  2. Avoid the busier resorts – remember,
    popularity = £££s
  3. Go for a catered chalet or half-board hotel if you’d rather know your costs upfront
  4. Opt in for the packed lunch, if available, and save your pennies for a coffee or hot chocolate on the slopes
  5. Keep an eye out for lift pass deals –
    buy 1, get 1 free will save you a lot
