Dreaming of fresh snowfall, peak views and crisp mountain air? Get your fill of the slopes in between ski seasons at the Snozone indoor snow centres in Milton Keynes and Castleford. They’ve both got a nursery area, a gentle blue run and a few drag lifts, so you can ski or board on real snow any time of the year. Here are our top five reasons to go…
Learn to ski or snowboard
If you’ve never tried skiing or boarding before, visiting an indoor snow centre is one of the best ways to give it a go. Learn the ropes before you head to the mountains, so you can cruise with confidence once you’re there – or just see if you actually enjoy it before taking the plunge and booking a whole holiday. Private and group lessons are available with BASI-qualified instructors (that’s the British Association of Snowsport Instructors), for anyone aged 3 and up.
Get some slope time in between seasons
Non-beginners can buy a pass to access the indoor slopes for anything from one hour to a full day. You just need to confirm that you know the basics – how to fit your boots, use a drag lift, link your turns and control your speed – and you’re good to go.
Have fun with the kids
It’s not all about the skiing at Snozone. If you’re stuck for something to do with the family at the weekend or during school holidays, join in a Sno-Play session to let loose and have fun in the snow. Little ones under 3 can enjoy the soft play area too.
Tuck into mountain food and drink
Pop into the Alpine Kitchen to indulge in specialities like tartiflette and schnitzel, or classics like burgers, sandwiches and salads. There are tables overlooking the slopes in both centres, so grab a seat by the window and watch the action while you eat.
